1819- Michigan Territory Governor Lewis Cass proclaimed Oakland the forth county of the Michigan territory. It was preceded by Wayne, Monroe and Macomb Counties. 1820- Pontiac was proclaimed the seat of Oakland County and the first court at Oakland County was held in Pontiac on July 17, 1820.
